The Story of the Dragon’s Pearl
Once upon a time there was a dragon who lived happily in his cave. He was a peaceful dragon who possessed a grand pearl that he played with, throwing it in the air and catching it in his mouth.
The villagers had seen the dragon’s pearl and wanted to steal it from him. For this reason, the emperor of China sent his son to the cave to get it. The prince prepared a plan in which he had to make a kite and a paper lantern.
Once night fell, the prince used the kite to fly up into the dragon’s cave with the paper lantern to light his way and found the dragon asleep, and was able to steal the dragon’s pearl.
The next day, when the dragon realized that his pearl had been stolen, the prince was already gone. Nevertheless, he went looking for his pearl everywhere until he saw a ship fleeing.
He approached and asked them to return his pearl. It was then that the prince ordered them to shoot the dragon with the cannon, but in the confusion, the dragon, seeing the cannon ball flying toward him, thought it was his pearl, so he opened his mouth and swallowed it.
This made the dragon sink into the sea and disappear forever, and the pearl became the most precious treasure in all of China.
